Finding a reliable map of india is not easy - anything with real detail in it seems to contravene indian state security - so the problems for anyone travelling in the subcontinent are multiplied. but the lonely planet atlas of india not only covers the entire country, but includes bits of pakistan and nepal for those who may need it (as well as all of bangladesh). i have used this book on two separate motorcycle trips to india and nepal and the atlas was my most useful companion. i found a few inaccuracies, but for a 1st edition, they are remarkably few. the user quickly gets used to the different types of road (ranging from pretty appalling to truly dreadful) and can work out which routes to take and roughly how long you can expect to be on the road. the distances are clear and accurate and the ancilliary info at the back is pretty good too. all in i would say this is the best map of india ever |
